New Kitchen Lighting Arrangements

I always hate to be doing things in the kitchen when it is not fully light. It can be really dark in ours, especially as the sink and things are positioned so that when you are standing in front of them, you are blocking the window and so in your own light. I do put the main light on, but it seems silly to have this much light in the middle of the day and also it is not in that good a position anyway. I have at last got round to buying some Led cabinet lights which I think will give me all the light that I need without having to put the main light on in the middle of the day. I have also got some under counter lighting and that will be brilliant. I just need to organise the electrician to come and fit it all for me and then I will be sorted. I also picked up some red rope lights to go up in my daughter?s bedroom and I will get the electrician to sort those out for me when he is here as well. May as well make the most of him and get all the jobs that I need doing all done in one go.

A Lovely Big Clear Out

I have a friend who admits to being really messy. She has decided to have a good clear out of her house and I have volunteered to help her. I had never been in her house before and I think she could see how shocked I was, when I walked in and saw how much stuff she had. It looked to me like she needed a series of skips to clear everything out but I had to bite my tongue and just help her with what she wanted doing. She finds it hard to lift things and had things which needed carrying down the stairs. We managed a big poster frame between us and I did a lot of the cardboard boxes of books. It was the TV stand that we could not move, it was so big and heavy, I told her she would need to get a strong chap in to help with that one. I did get something good out of it though, apart from a few good cups of tea and some biscuits. She had a sort through one kitchen cupboard and found that she has two popcorn poppers and as I do not have one, she gave me one as a thank you present so that was great.

My friend has been looking for a ring to buy his girlfriend and has me if I can help him to choose one for her. I have had great fun looking in all of the jewellery shops as I love buying new things like that. He is looking at cheap promise rings as he wants to show his commitment to her but knows that she is not ready to get engaged yet. They are still young and early in their relationship but he already knows that she is the one for him but she is not sure yet. He is, understanding of that but just wants to do something to show his commitment to her. He was looking at some fake diamond rings but I thought they might be misinterpreted for an engagement ring and that is not something he wants to happen as he thinks that it might scare her a bit. I have suggested that maybe a plain band of metal might be better as it will not be mistaken for an engagement ring and it will be a bit cheaper. He does not want to spend much, you see, because he would rather wait and spend a lot of money on the engagement ring when he feels it is the right time to buy it.

I have been having a lot of fun helping my Mum choose her wedding cake. She is getting married very soon and has made most of the arrangements. She has kept things pretty simple as she does not want a big do at her age and does not feel that she wants to spend too much money. I have been sampling wedding cake and looking at designs and wedding cake decorations on line for her. There are some fantastic ones but she does not have a massive budget. We have pretty much decided to buy a couple of plain cakes which have just white icing on and then put some fresh flowers on the top which match the bouquet and the ones on the tables. I think that the simplicity will make it look really pretty and it will also make it look more expensive rather than getting lots of cheap decorations which will end up looking nasty. The venue has a very ornate knife that they are lending us as well as a cake stand and I think with that in the photos as well it will look really great. My Mum is happy anyway and that is the most important thing after all.
